Job Posting: Kitchen Manager Location:Park Slope, Brooklyn, NYAbout Us:We are Pasta Louise, a bustling Italian-American restaurant in Brooklyn, a community mainstay known for our handcrafted dishes, simple yet delicious food, and commitment to giving back. We prioritize quality, hospitality, and teamwork to create a welcoming experience for our guests. We’re seeking a Kitchen Manager to help lead our culinary operations, ensuring smooth daily functioning, strong team collaboration, and adherence to our high standards of food and service quality. Key Responsibilities: Team Management: Supervise line cooks, prep staff, and kitchen leads, motivating the team to deliver excellent service and maintain morale during busy shifts. Basic Spanish skills are a plus for effective communication. Service Participation: Be hands-on during service by expediting, plating, or assisting withprep and assisting on any/all stationsas needed. Scheduling: Create and manage schedules for all back-of-house (BOH) staff, ensuring appropriate coverage and adherence to labor cost targets. Cost and Inventory Control: Maintain food costs, track inventory, monitor waste, and adjust orders to match demand while minimizing excess. Kitchen Organization: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, walk-in refrigerators, and all BOH areas. Always be prepared for health inspections and maintain compliance with NYC health and safety standards. Supplier Management: Handle ordering, check deliveries for accuracy, and monitor product pricing. Menu Support: Maintain detailed knowledge of all menu items and assist in training staff on preparation techniques and dish execution. Regularly suggest and present prospective new menu items. Maintenance: Reportneededrepairs or maintenance needed in the kitchen to operations manager to ensure smooth operations. Communication: Collaborate with front-of-house management to resolve issues positively and effectively. Act as a bridge between staff and management, fostering a cohesive team environment. Ability to speak/understand Spanish is a major plus. What We’re Looking For: Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team. A positive attitude, remaining calm and solution-focused under pressure. Experience managing a kitchen in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant setting. Knowledge of food and labor cost management. An eye for detail, especially regarding cleanliness, organization, and food quality. A team-oriented approach and willingness to lead by example. Bilingual Spanish would be a tremendous asset
